Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed people asking me why I make certain choices. It made me pause each time because I wasn’t ask myself “why?” often enough. In fact, I don’t think I was asking at all. I was somewhat on autopilot, trusting my intuition and not questioning it. Some people might think that’s a good thing. I used to be one of them.
When I think about it, I don’t ask myself WHY I’m doing what I’m doing often enough. I operate from a combination of gut and intuition most of the time, but I also need to check in more. Is there something I’m doing something that is out of alignment? The only way I’ll know is if I stop to ask. So, I’m taking this as a message from the Universe.
It’s time dig into my why’s.
Why do I choose not to have a smart phone?
Why am I so interested in frequency?
Why do I want to host an annual art and wellness event?
Why do I find my healing practices to be so important, such that I prefer not to go a day without clearing my energy or taking supplements?
Why is my passion for helping others heal a driving force in my life?
The list goes on.
If I’m being honest with myself, I’ve never taken to time to really dive deep into these questions. I’ve thought about them. I’ve journaled, a lot! But when I explored them, I made outlines and plans to do the things rather than explore why. I’ve answered some form of them in interviews or conversations, but I’ve never looked beyond the surface. Which is SO unlike me. And for the purposes of this post, I’m not going analyze all of my questions. But I am going to look at one thing in particular.
I was unironically born on November 2, the Day of the Dead, so I am quite literally a human bridge between the physical and spirit worlds. My interests in energy, consciousness, and intuition combined with my passion for the arts started when I was a child and make me lean heavily on the spiritual side of things. This can result in feeling ungrounded, imbalances in my root chakra, a feeling of instability rooted in a loose connection to the physical world. For me, grounding is as important as breathing to keep my system balanced.
Anyone versed in astrology will note that my interests are very aligned with my astrological signs (Scorpio sun, Capricorn moon, Virgo rising, etc), but where does this interest in healing come from? My father was a corporate executive and my mom was an interior designer. Although my mom, dad, and sister all had cancer journeys, my fascination with health started much earlier. It feels like it comes from a past life. In meditation, I have seen myself as a medicine man riding a white horse. It comes from my soul.
Maybe in this lifetime no one of influence was in the medical field, but my spirit knows healing is my calling. I’m not interested in being a doctor or a nutritionist. I know a lot of things about the human body because I’m an avid reader and researcher, but I’m not drawn to help others heal in that way. I am drawn to help them heal on a spiritual level.
As someone who felt invisible as a kid, I have always wanted to help others as a way to love them and teach them to love themselves. For me, healing is about love. It is about listening to the wisdom of the body and allowing the soul to speak through it. The symptoms we feel reflect the emotions we need to process.
When I think back to when I had a gastric ulcer that caused tremendous pain in my solar plexus, it is clear I was out of alignment with my personal power. When I get migraines, I am nearly always at a turning point in my life and the migraine is a way my body forces me to be still so I can receive messages from spirit. Pharmaceuticals prevent me from hearing these messages, so when my vision starts to flicker I know there’s nothing else I can do, but be still and listen. The messages I receive when I listen this way are profound.
None of us are meant to live forever, so the time we have, whether long or short, is really about love. How much love can we bring into this world?
While I was getting my master’s degrees in marriage and family therapy and art therapy, I got certified to work as an art therapist in the hospital setting. Working with patients who were battling acute or chronic conditions helped me to have compassion for their journeys and their choices. Some patients were not meant to survive, but in the short time I knew them, they made a huge impact on me and everyone else around them. None of us are meant to live forever, so the time we have, whether long or short, is really about love. How much love can we bring into this world?
In the past fifteen years, healing and wellness became even more of a focus for me. When my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010, I was fortunate that my family understood I had no choice but to be near my parents through my mother’s cancer treatment. When my father was diagnosed with bladder cancer after my mom passed, I was there for him. And when my sister was diagnosed with anal cancer, I dove into wellness partly as a way to try to save her. But after a few months, I realized my job was not save her, it was to help her soul heal.
When we hold space for people who are struggling in any way, it allows us to see the parts of ourselves that need love and attention. Every relationship we have is a mirror to ourselves because we are all part of the same biofield. Universal Life Force Energy. I am you and you are me. We are one. Society tells us we are individuals, separate from one another, but if that was true, why do I feel your sadness, your anger or your excitement? Energy is not contained within our bodies. Scientists know this. Consciousness expands outward.
I heard a researcher recently talking about how water is where consciousness is stored. When we exhale, the frequencies within our body are spread to the people around us through the droplets in our breath. Those around us quite literally inhale our energy. So, if this is true, what energy do I choose to put into the world? Love.
My intention, my why, is to bring more love into this world. That is why I am obsessed with healing and wellness. That is why I create frequency art and practice Reiki and quantum healing with clients. Love is the answer to all of the questions above and more.
My mission in this life is for you, me, and all beings on this planet to feel love, to heal. To spread that vibration everywhere in the world so we all can experience the oneness of love.
From the medicine man in my vision, to the young child who was lonely and insecure, to the woman I am today, I have always wanted to help people heal, to feel love, and to feel connected both to their physical body and their spirit. This is why I do what I do.
Have you thought about why you do what you do?
If so, I’d love to hear more from you in the comments. If not, I’d love to know if you’re ready to dig deeper into your why so you can know if you are aligned with your soul’s mission in this life. That is why I believe it is so important to ask ourselves why as often as possible.
I LOVE THIS! So beautiful. ♥️
