Grounding in 2025
Science-Backed Healing to Transform Your Mind, Body, and Soul
These days, distraction is at an all time high. Separating us from our truest essence: love.
This week, month, year… has been a whirlwind of manipulated emotions and chaos narratives driven by frantic news cycles, political unrest, and social media drudgery. Duality is in our faces everywhere we look. But if you take a moment to reconnect inward, to be still and silent, you’ll notice a sense of peace within.
Nothing in the outside world can take that peace from you. Unless you allow it.
I can hear some of your voices telling me it is impossible not to let the injustices of the world get to you right now. “You’re heartless if you don’t care.” “You have to stand up and fight.” But the truth is anger and fighting are signs of not being grounded. Not being calm. Peaceful. Loving.
Right now, if you take a look around you can very clearly see who is grounded and who isn’t. Not from a place of judgement, but awareness. People who are ungrounded radiate disconnection. Stress. Anger. And really it’s been this way for years.
When people start pointing fingers and calling names, they’re not present. They’re in their heads, tangled in the past, worried about the future, involved in the scribbles of distortion. People who are grounded are in the moment. They choose calm. But if you buy into the narratives, you might be thinking everyone is about to go to war. And when you unplug from the noise, you realize its an illusion. A manipulated one. So, why do so many people engage with it?
It’s not surprising how we got here. The algorithm is dripping in duality. If you depend on the news for your opinion and think it’s an accurate depiction of what is really going on, it seems like the entire world is facing off, adrift in the turmoil of the past, lost in the haze of the future. Everyone is told to take a side or you aren’t “doing your part.” Stories are spun and spun again. Judgements are plentiful. Many are unaware they’re attaching to chaos instead of grounding into the moment and living with love. They may repeat the latest slogans, but are they really embodying unconditional love?
We cannot love one another or ourselves when we are in constant judgement of each other.
We cannot heal individually or collectively when we are concerned about the choices of others. You can only control yourself and your own choices. And even then, judgement will never serve your highest good.
So, the solution I am proposing is grounding. Presence. Breathing into each moment as a way to live in truth. Approaching everything with a healthy dose of discernment. Not letting others dictate our mindset because we are so firmly rooted in the present moment, we cannot be kicked off our foundation for the latest news cycle.
If we want to heal, we must be in the now. It is the only moment that matters. Now. Now. Now.
Grounding is about sovereignty. It reconnects you to the Earth’s healing energy while transforming stress and disconnection into calm. It provides restful balance for your body, mind, and soul. It takes just a few minutes a day to experience a positive transformation, but most importantly it takes a CHOICE to practice it consistently. And it’s not easy to stay grounded when projected society leans unhinged.
Crazy times need drastic healing.
Turn off the TV. Close your social media apps and tabs. And tune into the real world around you. You’ll probably notice things are actually pretty chill. Take a couple deep breaths here. And take inventory:
Do you have roof over your head?
Food in your belly?
A pillow to sleep on?
A glimmer of love in your heart?
Then you’re doing pretty good.
Be grateful.
In this moment, you are well. Remind yourself of that. Often.
If you’re an empath (like me) and sensitive to the energy around you, even if you choose to turn the news off and live in the present moment, you’re gonna feel the emotions of others who haven’t been as disciplined about their energy hygiene. This can impact your sleep, your ability concentrate, and your ability to heal. So, choosing to ground your energy is one way you can reconnect with your own inner rhythm when the energy around you feels intense. You’re gonna have to ground yourself many times throughout the day. That’s okay. Stick with it.
There is science behind the benefits of grounding, so for anyone with an inner or outer skeptic, this post is for you. Because if you can understand the importance of grounding for your own wellness (and how that reverberates into the collective), you’re more likely to practice these techniques knowing they will help you (and the world around you) feel better.
Studies Show Grounding Rewires Your Nervous System for Deep, Restorative Sleep
Imagine slipping into bed and waking up feeling truly rested. Your mind clear. Your spirit lifted. A 2025 earthing mat study (https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9032/10/3/581) showed that just 6 hours of grounding daily for 31 days significantly improved sleep quality and reduced insomnia severity. By connecting to the Earth’s natural frequencies, grounding calms your nervous system, lowers cortisol, and invites restorative sleep that nurtures your mind, body, and soul. It puts you in a calm state so you can access your true self, your heart. But, this isn’t just about sleep. Grounding is a gateway to holistic healing, aligning your energy with the Earth’s rhythm.
GROUNDING TECHNIQUE: Place a grounding mat under your bedsheet and sleep on it for 6 hours nightly to enhance your sleep quality. Alternatively, spend 20 minutes barefoot on grass or sand before bed to calm your nervous system. Then, journal about your sleep quality to track improvements. If you want to make it super streamlined so you can actually follow through, just use a numbering system.
1 = a bad night of sleep. 10 = deep slumber. Easy peasy. You got this.
Another thing that happens when we are ungrounded and stressed and/or tired is we find it hard to think clearly. We drift through the day in a fog. And ultimately that means we feel disconnected from our deeper purpose, our spirit. If we stay in this space, things can snowball into irritability and arguments and acting in ways that feel out of character.
If this resonates with you in any way, I’m here to say grounding will help you. Remember, it is a practice. There’s no wrong or right way of doing it. Just connect with the earth, either in the physical world or in your mind’s eye. Both work. As with everything, it’s about intention.
Grounding Dissolves Stress, Unlocking Emotional and Spiritual Clarity
In a world that pulls you in a thousand directions, grounding anchors you to your core. Another 2025 study (https://www.psu.edu/news/research/story/electrical-grounding-technique-may-improve-health-outcomes-nicu-babies) found that grounding mats reduced stress, helping participants feel lighter and more present. By facilitating electron transfer from the Earth, grounding is a bridge to clarity, it soothes your emotional body, clearing mental fog and opening your heart to spiritual presence. This practice is like a daily reset, aligning your soul with the Earth’s healing pulse.
GROUNDING TECHNIQUE: Practice 10-15 minutes of barefoot grounding daily (on grass, beach, or soil) while setting an intention to release stress. Pair this with a 2-minute visualization of white light flowing from the Earth into your heart to amplify emotional clarity. Sync your visualization with your breath. Imagine your heartbeat working in unison with the Earth to tune all the systems of your body to their ideal frequency.
Grounding Is Your Daily Ritual for Holistic Mind-Body-Soul Healing
Grounding isn’t just a practice, it’s a sacred ritual that weaves healing into your daily life. Another 2025 study on grounding (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2212958825000059) showed that Earthing mats increased total sleep time and sustained insomnia improvements even after 38 days, proving its lasting impact.
Whether through barefoot walks or earthing tools, grounding reconnects you to the Earth’s energy system, reducing inflammation, balancing your biofield, and uplifting your spirit. It’s a simple, science-backed way to become your own greatest healer.
GROUNDING TECHNIQUE: Create a 10-minute daily grounding ritual: stand barefoot outside or use a grounding mat while breathing deeply and affirming, “I am connected, balanced, and whole” or “I am safe and secure.” Track your mood and energy in a journal to notice holistic shifts over 30 days. See if one mantra has a deeper impact than another. Make an experiment out of it. Have fun. Play.
In a world that can feel out of control, we can feel inclined to escape into our phones or other screens, but grounding is a safe respite. A practice of sanctuary that brings us home to ourselves. Empowering us with the moment, to know the truth of any narrative lies within our hearts.
The science proves grounding practices work, but only if we do them consistently. So if you catch yourself wanting to make the world a better place, start with yourself. Get grounded in the now. With love.
**As with all healing practices, please consult your professional doctor for specific medical questions and conditions. Grounding is a safe practice, but never let it replace the care of your health professional.**

I find being in the forest very grounding even if I don’t have my shoes off. I think being surrounded my that much nature is so powerful.
